UPCOMING EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS
Jellyfish Project BCCC Window Installation The BC Craft Council, Granville Island, Vancouver Dates: June 1st until July 30th, 2024 What is the downside of a floating mass of garbage? Experience a fish's view of sea life under a raft of cleaned and curated plastic. Imagine that the trash is mashed together by the currents, afloat far from its source, providing unwitting shade and shelter for plankton proliferation. Join the jellyfish as they gorge on their favourite food. Shaped and stiffened antique doilies with graceful ribbon and yarn tentacles sway in the air as people pass by, simulating the movement of ocean currents. Jellies and some items of trash are suspended by invisible fish line. The overall impression may be quite beautiful, until passersby notice the newspaper articles and text on the "ocean" floor describing how the jellyfish are decreasing fish stocks for human consumption. In this interconnected web of life, not every creature is endangered by climate change. Some are thriving on and under the pollution. Visit their website for more information. OUT AND ABOUT
MY TEACHING HISTORY
Between 1972 through 2019 I was fortunate to have been able to teach eager adult learners about art and creativity in textiles.
Some of this teaching involved travelling to exciting new places.
Here are few highlights...
