Vancouver has more sushi restaurants than any city in the world!
I love the variety and great prices for such a beautifully prepared, healthy food. This series began with a collection of green plastic grass-like decorations from sushi platters. I was thinking about using them in landscapes or abstract collages. Suddenly, I saw the possibility of making fabric sushi using prints that suggest the many different fillings for one of my favourite fast foods. The shapes and colours are fascinating! Arranging a variety of sushi on a simple black quilted “plate” makes them even more dramatic. I am continually experimenting with presentation |
